Introduction A blogpost of Hans Michiels caught my attention when I was looking on how to deploy SSIS packages to the SSIS Catalog in SQL Server in a standard manner. The problem I had was that it was bit time consuming to deploy SSIS packages and I wanted to create projects, environments and environment variables on the fly from a script.
Apr 08, 2010 · Now we have the connection string in the “uVar_SourceConStr_ConnectionString” variable, by using that and this script we will be looping though each Sheet and finding that names of them, and finally saving them in the “uVar_ExcelTabObjectName” variable which is a SSIS Object variable.
Jan 14, 2013 · Variables have the same properties as parameters, except the “required” option. In the example above two variables were used to store the source and destination connection string and one variable, “DeltaLoad” is a used as indicator either the package is executed in delta or in initial mode. It features a data warehousing tool used for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). The tool may also be used to automate maintenance of SQL Server databases and updates to multidimensional cube data. Typically, it contains control flow and data flow elements to manage data movement and transformations. You can create packages by using Business Intelligence Development Studio or the Import and Export wizard; Variables in SSIS 2012 or 2008. Variables can be used to provide additional functionality to SSIS packages. To accomplish this I hard coded the table names into the For Each loop, but an object variable could just as easily done this. Sep 02, 2008 · Recently I had the pleasure of working with a data source that returned all of the transactions with 1 stored procedure. However, this meant the stored procedure returned 14 result sets, and an output parameter. The question was how to get the 15 result sets into SSIS. The answer: Use a Script Component. Here is the path I took to handle this: I have a variable, of type Object, which contains records from table populated by using a SQL Script Task. I have used this Script Task and it's working perfectly by I want to read this object in an SSIS script component so that I can directly give the output from script component to the destination table.Data flow, on the other hand, streams the data in pipeline manner from its source to a destination and modifying it in between by applying transformations. Another distinction between them is the absence of a mechanism that would allow direct transfer of data between individual control flow tasks. Data flow consists of Source, Transformations and Destination. The core strength of SSIS is its capability to Extract data into the server’s memory (Extraction), Transform (modified) it using different Transformations and load it to an Destination (Loading). The data flow task in SSIS sends the data in series of buffer. See: SSIS - Storing Dataflow results to Object Variable with Recordset Destination See: SSIS - Mapping Full Resultset with Execute SQL Task to Object Variable (Both examples above fill Object variable with sys.tables data within the msdb database in SQL server.) 2- Create two more variables to hold the table name (string) and object id (integer) Before we begin working through the Control Flow logic, there is one last thing required.
